Prior Appearances (2005)
Madison, Wisconsin, Hadassah sponsored a talk and reading at Temple Beth El on September 19.  (Madison was home to Brenda's family from 1967 to 1976, where her younger daughter was born, and where she attended the University of Wisconsin - Madison.)  Thanks to Ghita Bessman and Anita Park for setting up the event, and for Linda and Larry Shriberg for inviting her to stay at their home.
On Thursday, September 22, she met with Sam's Club, a long established book club in St. Paul, MN, hosted by Virginia Sheff.  St. Paul is the home city of Hamline University where she earned my MA in creative writing.  She tried out the study questions on this site with Sam's Club, but would like to know your thoughts too.  Please look at the study questions then let her know your response at: brenda@brendabarrie.com.
On Wednesday, September 28, Brenda did a very successful reading and talk at McNally Robinson in Winnipeg, Manitoba's major book store at the Grant Park Shopping Centre.   Winnipeg really is her home town where she was born and raised so her daughters and their children -- nine grandchildren in all -- will be in attendance.   You might note that The Binding is dedicated to her daughters, Renata and Aviva.  Brenda was also profiled in the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra magazine, Overture, and was featured on CJOB radio station 680 in Winnipeg.
Baltimore's "Book Bash 2005" was held at Greetings & Readings shop in Hunt Valley Town Center on Sunday evening, October 23, featuring Brenda and other locally and nationally acclaimed authors, who will sign and sell their works . This is the annual fundraiser for Literacy Works, Inc. Over 10,000 invitations have been issued, and close to 1,000 are expected to attend.
In October Brenda met with congregations book clubs in Baltimore at Congregation Beit Tikvah and Chevrei Tzedek Congregation to discuss The Binding.
And, on Sunday afternoon, Oct. 30, Brenda appeared with threee other members of the Baltimore Jewish Writers Group at Pages, an independent book store in Pikesville, MD.  Appearing with Brenda were:

Also in October, she spoke to several other Baltimore groups, including the Mt. Washington Book Club and Newcomers of Northwest Baltimore.
In November, with the High Holidays completed, she was back on the road with appearances in Ottawa and Philadelphia. On Nov. 17, she spoke to Ora Group of Hadassah at the Hadassah office on Old Court Road, relating The Binding to Kristalnacht.
